Pokémon Winds & Waves Main Characters: Version Outfits Explained

Who is the main character in Winds & Waves?

You play a customizable young protagonist exploring the archipelago — official renders show both a boy and a girl option, each with outfits that differ between versions. The Pokémon Company hasn’t given the leads official names yet, and no rival, professor, or villain characters have been revealed.

How do the version outfits differ?

The headline difference is the headwear: the Pokémon Winds pair wear wide white sun hats, while the Pokémon Waves pair swap them for blue baseball caps with a wave pin. The base outfits stay similar — the boy in a yellow tee, the girl in a pink tee — with hats and accent details doing the version signaling. Which version you buy determines the default look; whether outfits can be swapped or bought in-game is unknown.

What does the trailer show them doing?

The footage shows the protagonist running jungle paths, crossing a village street with shopfronts, moving through a lava cave, and standing on beaches — plus a deck-side close-up that shows off outfit detail. Both hero shots below are official stills:

Who else is confirmed?

No NPCs are officially named yet. The only named “characters” are the two special Pikachu — Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu — whose story role is deliberately unrevealed. As new characters are announced we’ll split this page into a full cast list; the macro picture lives at everything we know.
